Gastroenterology


Our GI Suites have specialized equipment to view and diagnose a patient's gastrointestinal tract by minimally invasive means. Our GI physicians perform a variety of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures including, but not limited to:

Gastroscopy

This procedure examines the upper portion of the GI tract. A thin tube (gastroscope) is inserted in the mouth to examine the upper portion of the gastrointestinal tract. Patients may be sedated during this procedure.

Colonoscopy

This procedure examines the lower portion of the gastrointestinal tract, usually for adults over age 50 or those with family history of polyps or colon cancer. Removal of polyps (polypectomy) may be done during a colonoscopy.

Flexible Sigmoidoscopy

This procedure is performed for screening of the lower portion of the rectum and colon.

ERCP

Endoscopic retrograde cholangiography -A procedure to diagnose and treat gallstones though an endoscope using X-rays to treat gallstones in a non-invasive manner.
