Garfield Medical Center History


1927: Dr. I.M. Feldcamp forms Garfield Hospital with 24 beds

1966: Garfield expands to 99 beds

1971: Hospital tower is constructed

1973: 500 N. Garfield Ave. medical office building opens

1977: Neonatal Intensive Care Unit is added

1984: OB Department expansion

1988: 600 N. Garfield Ave. medical office building opens

2002: New Emergency Department building opens

2003: Cardiac Catherization Lab expansion is completed

2005: Garfield Medical Center is acquired by AHMC Healthcare

2011: AHMC International Cancer Center begins service

2013: Hospital-wide patient room renovation is completed
