A Message from the CEO

Hello, my name is Herbert Villafuerte and I am the CEO of Garfield Medical Center. It is my duty to ensure that the care you receive is of the highest quality possible. The mission of Garfield Medical Center is to provide world-class healthcare to our diverse community with compassion, safety, efficiency and service excellence. We are able to accomplish this through a careful integration of services with our community partners.

We are a 210-bed acute care hospital that has been serving the San Gabriel Valley for almost one hundred years. Our facility provides everything from high-end cardiac, neurosurgical, urological and robotic surgeries to emergent, pediatric and maternity care.

Our cardiac program prides itself by providing diagnostic, interventional, and open heart services to the community. As a designated STEMI (heart attack) receiving facility, our state-of-the-art cardiac catheterization laboratories treat over 1200 cases each year. Patients suffering from acute heart attacks are brought to our facility for immediate treatment. Our recognized open heart program treats patients requiring valve replacement, coronary bypass, or both.

Garfield Medical Center is also a certified Primary Stroke Center. Patients suffering from stroke symptoms can be treated at our facility. The addition of our Biplane Room gives us the ability to remove vein obstructions in the brain, thereby restoring function to patients through timely intervention.

Garfield Medical Center has the pleasure of working with over 500 highly-skilled physicians, and I want to take this opportunity to thank them, and also thank our entire staff and our community for supporting us during the COVID-19 pandemic.
