Visitor Information
- To provide a therapeutic healing environment for the patient with the understanding that the support and assistance of the family and/or significant other in the recovery process is the key.
- To ensure that our patients’ psychosocial needs are met by having family and friends visit.
- To ensure safety and appropriate conduct by visitors at all times.
- To provide guidelines to limit visitation when indicated by patient condition, patient request, or by facility need.
Visitor Hours
8:00 AM - 2:00 PM and 4:00 PM - 8:00 PMChildren under 16 are permitted only for special circumstances and with management approval.

Policy
- Visitation may be contingent upon the condition of the individual patient and may be altered or eliminated if it is determined to be detrimental to the patient.
- Visitation will be denied if a visitor is determined to be under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs, or if they exhibit disruptive behavior.
- The number of visitors must not affect the healthcare provider’s ability to provide proper care to the patient.
- Visitors must not negatively impact the care or privacy of any other patient. Therefore, as a guideline, visitors are limited to two individuals at any one time.
- Any visitor with symptoms or signs of a communicable illness or disease should not visit the hospital.
- Please be advised that visitors may be asked by staff to leave, especially if a patient needs rest. Visitors are welcome based upon the patient's condition and at the discretion of the nursing staff.
- Access to hospital property is open exclusively to patients, visitors, physicians, employees, clergy, authorized vendors, and other authorized individuals. Unauthorized solicitation is strictly forbidden.
- 1. Inappropriate conduct (e.g., vulgar language, threatening or assaultive behavior, interference with patient care, etc.) will be grounds for restriction or revocation of visiting privileges.
- Visiting hours and regulations have been established to promote a family-friendly environment and to enhance patient care, satisfaction, and safety.
- 1. Signs will be posted in key areas (front lobby, ER admitting, and the main Admitting Department) announcing the major components of Greater El Monte Community Hospital’s (Greater El Monte) visitor policy.
- 2. Visitors are required to present one form of legal identification, preferably a driver’s license.
- 3. The Clinical Manager of each department will contact the Administrative Supervisor and/or Security regarding any problems with disruptive behavior and/or security concerns. Security will enforce the guidelines of this policy.
- Hospital personnel are to stop and question any unidentifiable person in their area. Unidentified persons will be redirected to the lobby desk to obtain a visitor armband.
Visitation Specifics
Visitation is limited to two (2) persons at a time per patient. For patients sharing rooms; visitors may be limited to promote rest and healing; as well as keeping the volume of the television and/or electronic device low to avoid disruption for the patient sharing the room.Age Restrictions:
No visitors under the age of 16 are permitted. Minor children must not be left unattended and must be supervised by an adult at all times.
Clergy will be allowed access at any time.
Overnight Visits/Stay:
- General Policy: Over-night stay is dependent on the patient’s preference; bed availability; i.e. private room or semi-private room; occupied by one patient; and/or gender. Limited to one person 18 years or older, staying in the patient’s room. This will be allowed at the discretion of the Clinical Manager/Relief Charge of the Unit the patient is admitted to.
Procedure
All visitors must present themselves at the front desk in the lobby to receive a visitor pass. Visitors must present one form of legal identification, preferably a driver’s license. Visitors without identification may be denied entry to the hospital.- Security will strictly enforce the limit of two visitors at any one time to ensure a quiet environment. To further support a quiet environment, security will provide visitors with a "Quiet Campaign" flyer. If other visitors are waiting, the original visitors must return to the lobby or a designated waiting area.
- The patient’s response toward his or her visitors will be considered by the nursing staff when evaluating visitation. Visitors may be asked to leave at any time based on the RN's assessment and/or the care being provided.
- When a code team response is initiated, visitors may be escorted from the room and/or nursing unit at the staff’s discretion.
Vendors
- Vendors must have an appointment before presenting to Greater El Monte Community Hospital.
- Materials Management will be notified of all unscheduled vendor visits.
- All vendors must check in at the Main Lobby front desk and present one form of legal identification, such as a company ID or a driver’s license. Vendors without identification may be denied entry to the hospital. A badge will be issued upon check-in.
Intensive Care Unit (ICU)
Visiting Hours: 8:00 AM - 6:00 PMVisitors are not allowed from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM
Visitation after 8:00 PM is allowed only with permission from the nursing staff.

Greater El Monte Community Hospital is a smoke-free facility.
Quiet hours are observed daily from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM.
Waiting areas for visitors are available in the front lobby, the cafeteria, or the Emergency Department.
An ICU waiting area is located directly in the ICU. Please note that flowers and balloons are not allowed in the ICU.
