The Emergency Department at Whittier Hospital Medical Center is committed to seeing you in 30 minutes or less (from time of arrival until the time you are initially seen by one of our Emergency Department providers). We know that the sooner we see you, the faster we can help!

The Emergency Department is staffed 24 hours a day with physicians experienced in Emergency Medicine. We are always ready to treat serious injuries or dangerous symptoms in adults and children.

Our goal is to provide you with efficient and compassionate emergency care. Our full-service ER enables physicians and staff to treat injuries or dangerous symptoms in adults and children.

Fast Track Service (a service specially designed to reduce wait time)
Access to operating suites
Anesthesia services
Clinical laboratory services
Translation services
X-Ray technicians and radiology services
Certified to care for children of all ages. Los Angeles County PRP (Pediatric Readiness Project)

Useful Information

The entrance to the Emergency Departiment is located in the rear of the hospital, off Janine Drive
Social Services are available during business hours, Monday through Friday
Patients will receive separate bills for an emergency services: physician, specialists, radiology, laboratory and ambulance
Whittier Hospital Medical Center will bill the patients' insurance companies directly
Emergency services are not based on an ability to pay

Visiting Guidelines

Each patient is allowed one visitor.
Family members may be asked to remain in the waiting area, or the number of visitors may be limited.
Visitors in the patient care area are asked to remain at the patient's bedside.
Our staff will make every effort to keep those waiting for patient fully informed and updated on condition and treatment.

We hope you never need us, but if you or a loved one has an emergency, you can count on us to be there for you!
