We've taken steps to ensure your safety when you visit our emergency department:

Mandatory Masking - All patients and visitors must be masked.
Patient Safety - Anyone with COVID-19 symptoms is isolated from waiting areas, patient rooms, entrances and any space that the general population uses. At peak times with patient visits, we use a surge tent
Cleaning - Our teams are providing extra cleaning and disinfecting in all spaces.
Employee and Physician Screening - We've instituted symptom check and mandatory temperature screenings before each shift.


Each year, more than 29,000 patients receive emergency medical care in the 18-bed Emergency Department at AHMC Seton Medical Center. Our Emergency Department is open 24/7 to patients of all ages. You will receive emergency care at AHMC Seton Medical Center, even if you do not have health insurance coverage.

Emergency Stroke Care

Seton is a designated Primary Stroke Center by the Joint Commission, the leading accrediting body for hospitals in the U.S. Our stroke program has earned the 2020 Get With The Guidelines® - Stroke Gold Plus Quality Achievement Award from the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association and also recognition for Target: Stroke Elite Plus Honor Roll and Target: Type 2 Diabetes Honor Roll for excellence in stroke care. This award recognizes our commitment to patient care and to improving patient survival rates.

Emergency STEMI Care

AHMC Seton Medical Center has earned the 2020 Mission: Lifeline STEMI Receiving Center Silver Plus Quality Achievement Award. This award signifies a commitment to adherence and quality improvement for the STEMI patient population. Achieving Mission: Lifeline Recognition denotes a commitment to high quality systems of care amongst STEMI Receiving Centers, STEMI Referring Hospitals, 911 EMS Agencies, Interfacility Transport Agencies and other supporting system participants through collaborative efforts including quality improvement priorities outside

Emergency Care for Children and Infants

Emergency Care for Children and Infants at Seton - Emergency care for children and infants is different than emergency care for adults. Their growing bodies require specialized care. The emergency room physicians and staff at Seton have specialty training and experience with childhood emergency care.

This includes:

Pediatric airway management and CPR
Resuscitation of infants and children
General pediatric emergency care
Seek immediate medical help if your child exhibits any of the following warning signs of a medical emergency:
Confusion, headache or vomiting following a head injury
Uncontrolled bleeding
Inability to stand up or unsteady walking
Unconsciousness
Abnormal or difficult breathing
Discoloration of skin or lips
Difficulty eating
High, sustained fever
Severe vomiting or diarrhea

Please bring your child's medical history and any medications (in their original containers) with you to the Emergency Department.

If your child has swallowed poison or any harmful medications, call poison control first at (800) 222-1222, and then bring the suspected poison or medication with your child to the Emergency Department.
